AI and Future Investments
So privileged to speak at the #DSIG Conference - AI for All: Empowering Responsible Investments. Our UAE leaders have tasked us to be prepared for the future and that means #responsible and #sustainable #AI. There is great potential in AI as a #technology. But like every other tool, it is up to us, how we use it. For example, this current #4IR is like none of the previous ones, as the scale and scope of adoption of AI has no past benchmarks. The #regulatory lag means we need a responsible public and #privatesector. Hence, there is great need to differentiate between #AILiteracy and #Digitalliteracy. One of the things I love in meeting like this is meeting like-minded people, many of whom are friends. I was inspired by the story of Jay Sadiq and his pivot from #materialscience to data.
Today, #innovation requires us to look to the future and not just at #risks but at spillovers - good and bad and to build suitable #guardrails to ensure#technology (and now #data) is always used for good! It is not always about #profits but #values. When we apply rules-based algorithms to people (who are irrational and creative and spontaneous), we need to be careful. These qualities of humans is what made humans thrive - our human ingenuity which is a messy process! But if you want to know more - look at www.melodena.com.
