Agile Nations Metaverse Self-Governance White Paper

Since April 2022, the mazing team and I under the UAE Minister for State's Office for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy & Remote Work Applications have been working with the private sector, international government entities and non-government organisations to find and explain the principles. We believe this is the only way forward.

The Agile Nations, (via the Office of Minister for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications) released a non-legislative paper: RESPONSIBLE METAVERSE SELF-GOVERNANCE FRAMEWORK.

The Agile Nations is an intergovernmental network established in December 2020 with support from World Economic Forum (WEF) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to bring governments and industry together to collaborate on creating a global regulatory environment that allows innovation to flourish while upholding protections for individual citizens, societies, companies and the environment. The network comprises the United Arab Emirates (UAE), United Kingdom (UK), Canada, Denmark, Italy, Japan, and Singapore.

The paper highlights the participatory process, the opportunities the metaverse brings and the reasons why we need to adopt a self-governance framework. There are nine principles outlined.
