Council of Europe: Metaverse





Presented on the topic of #Metaverse as an expert at an informal meeting to the Committee of Ministers, Council of Europe on 14th September, 2023. This session adds to the Council of Europe Digital Agenda 2022-25. This is a priority area for the Latvian Presidency and the panel I was in focussed on contributions and findings from a joint report put together with 50 other contributing authors from IEEE. The purpose was to inform and create awareness of the opportunities, risks, and complexities for governance, focussing on human rights, rule of law and democracy. I would like to thank H. E. Jānis Kārkliņš, Ambassador, Latvian Chair to the Committee of Ministers and Patrick Penninckx, Head of the Information Society Department, Council of Europe. Specifically, I spoke on the Right to Work, Right to a Healthy Environment, Posthumous Rights, and Metaverse Governance. We thank the Ministers for all questions.
